Bahrain PM Vows Protection of OFW, Says He Loves Filipino Workers Dedication

Bahrain’s Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa vowed commitment to protect the rights of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in their Kingdom.

In the meeting of Khalifa and Philippine Ambassador in Bahrain Alfonso Ver on February 11 at the former’s office, the Prime Minister expressed willingness to work closely with the Philippine government if cases of misconduct against the OFWs by their employers or agencies in Bahrain arise.

Khalifa said all expatriates are welcome to the Kingdom, but he loves the Filipinos in particular and even mentioned that more Filipinos expatriates should work in Bahrain.

The Bahraini leader has long been admiring the Filipinos as they were efficient and very good workers as many were working for him at his office and in the palace.

Ver, in turn, informed the Prime Minister that Filipinos in Bahrain, in general, have been receiving good treatment from their employers.

While there were minor problems encountered by the OFWs in the Kingdom, Ver said they were easily resolved through the cooperation and coordination of the Embassy and related Bahrain government agencies such as the Department of Labor, the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, the Ministry of Interior, Immigration, and the Police.

According to the DFA, the meeting concluded with Ver reiterating the country’s gratitude to Bahrain for welcoming Filipino workers and for recognizing them as contributors to the country’s development.
