Implementation of the Anti-Age Discrimination Law

Important Announcement:

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) issued the implementing rules and regulations (IIR) for Republic Act No. 10911, or the Anti-Age Discrimination in Employment Act, in mid-February, and it finally went into effect February 28. It prohibits employers from hiring workers based on age.

Under the law, employers cannot publish any advertisement, in all forms of media, that suggests preferences, limitations and specifications based on age. Employers are also not allowed to require candidates to disclose their age or date of birth during the application process.

Violators of the law will be meted a fine of not less than P50,000 but not more than P500,000, or imprisonment of not less than 3 months but not more than two years, or both.

In line with the implementation of the law, all postings will be updated in such a way that all declared maximum age requirement and filters in our existing jobs will be removed. The applicant’s age and date of birth details will also be hidden. Please expect the changes in our CVs and job postings starting this week.

We ask that you exercise caution and not include any age specifications and preferences in your job postings.
