OFW in Saudi Seeks Help to go Home to Pangasinan

(Updated 10:22 a.m.) An overseas Filipino worker based in Saudi Arabia is seeking help to return home, after supposedly being injured due to overworking  and alleged employer maltreatment.

The OFW, who asked not to be named for now, narrated falling two flights of stairs due to fatigue, GMA Dagupan reported.

“Kung may makakatulong sa kanya na makauwi sa Pilipinas, maganda yun dahil nangyari doon sa kanya, nahilo at nabagok ang ulo,” the OFW’s father said in an interview.

The report said the OFW claimed being made to work without any day-off.

Even after the accident, the OFW was not taken to a hospital for treatment.

“Matapos sinigaw sigawan niya ako tapos nagmamaltrato na salita. That time nahihirapan na ako huminga, that time din sinabihan niya ako ng stupid,” said the OFW, a native of San Manuel in Pangasinan.

On the other hand, the OFW even had to pay 10 riyals after not being able to complete the six-month labor contract.

The OFW has asked the Philippine Overseas Labor Office for help and is now awaiting action.

Meanwhile, the Pangasinan OFW desk advised the OFW’s family to coordinate with it so it can endorse the case to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
