PH Consulate in Milan expects filing of raps vs firm in alleged bogus jobs for Filipinos

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Consulate General in Milan said on Tuesday that it expects that criminal cases will be filed soon against a firm that promised jobs for Filipinos in Italy in exchange for large amounts of money.

Lawyer Bruno de Blasi was awarded the contract to represent the 100 complainants in Italy in the case of aggravated fraud against Alpha Assistenza SRL.

According to the Consulate General, 269 Filipinos were made to pay at least €3,000 for nonexistent jobs.

In August 31, Consul General Elmer Cato recommended the hiring of a lawyer for the grievances of the Filipino workers.

The endorsement of Department of Migrant Workers Undersecretary Jose Eduardo De Vega to assist the complainants using the Legal Assistance Fund of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has also been approved by DFA secretary Enrique Manalo.
