MOSCOW – Fresh mangoes and banana chips were among Filipino products that took centerstage at the 26th World Food Day in Russia.

The Philippines, led by the Department of Agriculture, was among more than 50 countries that participated in the food exhibition.

The food-tasting event took place at the embassy on Sept. 13, organized by mission officials led by Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos Sorreta.

“I think it’s quite a success. We have a very good group of agricultural producers. They are discussing possible deals for the importation into Russia of Philippine agricultural products,” said Sorreta.

The Philippines’ top export quality products like tuna and sardines, mangoes, pineapples and bananas, and other preserved and processed goods were showcased in the event.

Based on positive comments from Russians, the agriculture department hopes to see Filipino products penetrate the market in Moscow soon.
