A Filipina was arrested in Oman last month for allegedly stealing cash and gold from her employer.
A news release from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) identified the Filipina as Hazel Ann Marcelino, 27.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said Marcelino, who was arrested by Al Khoud police on September 10, will receive full government assistance.
“We have already instructed our welfare officers to monitor the case and we are coordinating with the agency that recruited her to come up with a comprehensive assistance,” said OWWA Deputy Administrator Josefino Torres.
Torres assured Marcelino and her family of a “comprehensive assistance to facilitate the early resolution of her case.”
The assistance will be extended through the Assistance to Nationals (ATN) Section of the Philippine Embassy, Torres said.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Oman has already approved the request of Philippine Embassy to put Marcelino under the Embassy’s custody while her case is ongoing.
Marcelino was deployed to Oman in November 2016 through the STB DJL Human link, Inc., as Sales and Marketing Officer at Nawal Art LLC. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
