MANILA, Philippines — Nineteen Filipinos, including two children, from Syria will be arriving home on December 24 as the government continues its mandatory repatriation program from the war-torn Middle East country.

The latest arrivals, who are returning through Lebanon with the assistance of the International Organization for Migration, will bring the number of Filipinos repatriated from Syria since 2011 to 5,942, roughly half of them passing through Lebanon.

The Philippine embassy in Damascus said it is continuing to coordinate with Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates for the issuance of exit visas for Filipinos sheltering at the embassy’s halfway quarters.

It also urged relatives of Filipinos still in Syria to provide information on their whereabouts so they can be assisted.

The embassy may be reached through the telephone numbers 00963-11-6132626, 00963-949155557, 00963-934957926; and the e-mail address: pe.damascus@gmail.com.
