For the 3rd Time, OFWs pick GMA News Online as their Favorite News Website

For the third consecutive year, GMA News Online was chosen by overseas Filipino workers as their most preferred news website.

During the 4th OFW Gawad Parangal held over the weekend, the Kapisanan ng mga Kamag-anak at Migranteng Manggagawang Pilipino, Inc. (KAKAMMPI) honored GMA News Online, as well as different personalities and programs from GMA News and Public Affairs and Entertainment, for pushing the welfare of OFWs.

GMA News Online, which has a section catering to overseas Filipinos called Pinoy Abroad, was honored as Best News Website during the awarding ceremony held on December 13 at the Justine Building in Makati City. It first received the OFW Gawad Parangal in 2012, then again in 2013.

GMA News and Public Affairs host and anchor Jessica Soho, on the other hand, was recognized as the Best TV Magazine Program Host.

“Maraming-maraming salamat ho sa pagkilalang iginawad niyo sa akin. Higit kaninuman mas dapat pong kilalanin ang inyong pangangalaga sa kapakanan ng ating mga migranteng Pilipino,” Soho said in a short videotaped acceptance speech shown during the event.

“I-Witness” host and “News To Go” anchor Kara David was honored as Outstanding Lifestyle Program Host, while her co-hosts on “I-Witness,” Howie Severino and Sandra Aguinaldo, also received awards for Outstanding Documentarists.

Meanwhile, Kapuso primetime queen and bride-to-be Marian Rivera, who attended the event, was given the Favorite Actress award.

Other Kapuso artists Carla Abellana, Tom Rodriguez, Dennis Trillo, and “Eat Bulaga” host Jose Manalo, as well as Kapuso shows “Celebrity Bluff,” “Eat Bulaga,” and “My Husband’s Lover” were also given recognition.

Other awardees were superstar Nora Aunor, Pag-IBIG Fund President and CEO Darlene Berberabe, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac, and Social Security System Media Affairs Department Senior Officer Llibeth Suralvo.

Vice President Jejomar Binay, who is also the presidential adviser on OFW concerns, was given special recognition along with Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, and SSS.
