MANILA- The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday said it will open two new consular offices in Northern Luzon.
The new offices will open in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte on May 8, and at Robinsons Place in Santiago, Isabela on May 15.
Both new offices will be operating from Monday to Saturday.
“DFA is committed to make its passport and other consular services more accessible to our people. The opening of these two consular offices is a firm example of that commitment,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said in a statement.
Last week, the DFA said slots for online passport appointment starting July this year are yet to be opened due to an ongoing system upgrade.
In a statement, the agency said it would enhance the appointment system with the implementation of an electronic payment facility, which would allow passport applicants to pay at a payment facility of their choice before going to a consular office.
The DFA this year began releasing passports with 10-year validity.
