Holiday, Long Weekend Expected this Month in UAE

Residents and workers in the UAE could expect one holiday and another long weekend for the month of November.
According to the list of holidays released by the UAE government earlier this year, the next holiday will be on November 19, Monday, in celebration of Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday. Since the holiday will fall on a Monday, workers still need to go to the office on Sunday thus, no long weekend. This, however, still depends on moon sightings so a long weekend is still possible.
Another long weekend, meanwhile, will happen from November 30, Friday, to December 2, Sunday.
During this long weekend, two public holidays will be celebrated.
Martyr’s Day
Earlier, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, proclaimed November 30, Friday, as Martyr’s Day or Commemoration Day to be held to remember the heroic deeds of the nation’s martyrs. Since the holiday falls on a Friday, no additional day may be given to workers in the private sector.
UAE National Day
Before year-end, the UAE will also celebrate the UAE National Day to commemorate the founding of the union of the United Arab Emirates in 1971. This will be celebrated on December 2, Sunday, and December 3, Monday. If both days will be declared as holidays, workers will be able to enjoy a four-day long weekend before the year ends.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Employees are still advised to wait for official announcements from the UAE government regarding the holidays in the public and private sectors.
