Cebu Pacific Bans Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on All Flights

Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) on Saturday announced that Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will no longer be allowed on its flights.
In an advisory, the carrier advised its passengers that the device is banned from its flights to Guam, USA starting October 16.
“The ban will be implemented on board all other CEB and Cebgo flights on October 18. CEB extended the ban to cover all of the flights in its network, as the fire hazard brought by Galaxy Note 7 devices poses huge risks on the safety of passengers and crew on board,” it noted.
“We sincerely hope for our passengers’ full cooperation, as safe air transportation remains our utmost priority,” it added.
The CEB noted that the ban follows an emergency order issued by the US Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration banning all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices from air transportation in the United States.
The emergency order was issued after device owners documented incidents of dangerous evolution of heat with both recalled and replacement Galaxy Note 7 devices.
“Passengers on CEB’s flights may not transport the device on their person, in carry-on baggage, or in checked baggage. The smartphones will also not be allowed to be shipped via cargo,” the carrier noted.
It also said that passengers who attempt to travel by air with the prohibited device will be denied boarding.
“Those who attempt to pack the smartphone in checked baggage or send it via cargo may be liable for criminal charges and/or penalties,” CEB warned. —ALG, GMA News
