Decisive Storm Serves a Warning to Troublemakers, Say Analysts
Saudi political analysts have said that Operation Decisive Storm is an Arab warning to anyone trying to destabilize the Gulf countries and a response to Iranian intervention in a number of Arab states.
Academic Ayed Al-Manna said the operation would expel the Houthi forces and their ally, Ali Abdullah Saleh, from Sanaa and provide for the return of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and his government and the opening of an in-depth dialogue with all parties.
He said that by assembling the Arab coalition, the Kingdom has laid the foundation for rapid intervention to deter any attack on an Arab country in order to preserve the independence and sovereignty in any allied country in need of support and backing.
Mutlaq bin Saud Al-Mutairi, who teaches political science, said that King Salman had been able to secure an unprecedented international consensus on the military intervention in Yemen.
“Most of the world has welcomed this military operation launched by the Kingdom and its neighboring countries in order to maintain the security of Arab countries,” he said.
Al-Mutairi said the Houthis had no option except to accept his defeat because of their sectarian politics and intention to implement Iranian agenda.
“The Yemeni people will not allow the return of these militias due to their sectarian perspectives that are far removed from the national feeling,” said Mohammed bin Saqr, an expert in Iranian affairs.
“The current political scene in Yemen shows clearly that the region has entered a new phase, and that many political and strategic changes will become clear in the coming days.”
He said that Yemen was part of the Iranian expansion plan in Arab lands, and its tool is the Houthi militia as well as Ali Abdullah Saleh.
“Houthi followers will try to return to dialogue and political solutions, but the rules of the game have been changed now,” he said.
“All Yemenis seek security and stabilization for their country, but after Decisive Storm, they can lay out the terms for dialogue and the rules of peace without any threat of force such as what occurred when Sanaa was taken in September,” he said. “Perhaps the most important result will be the Houthi abandonment of military power and integration into the political process as a political party.”
“The global alliance of Decisive Storm has gone beyond the limits of the Arab region to include Pakistan. Many Arabs on social networks, particularly Twitter, expressed their extreme happiness about this Islamic Arab military coalition.”
“This coalition might indicate a common Arab-Islamic stance in the future on Arab and Islamic issues,” he said.
