Department of Economic Development Welcomes The Medical City to Dubai as it Taps the Middle East Market

DED Director General Sami Al Qamzi and TMC EMEA CEO Jose Xavier B. Gonzales discuss healthcare trends and innovation

Department of Economic Development (DED) Director General Sami Al Qamzi has recently welcomed to his office a high-level delegation from The Medical City (TMC), the Philippines’ largest healthcare network, which started its Middle East expansion in Dubai.

“I, on behalf of DED, am very happy to welcome The Medical City not only to our office but to the rest of Dubai and the UAE. We highly value and appreciate your (TMC) decision to come here and share your experience and expertise with this part of the globe,” said DED Director General Al Qamzi.

As TMC brings its experience and expertise to the UAE, it aims not only to serve the needs of the Filipino community but also to take part in the current globalisation of the industry, crossing borders and offering to the world the best options in healthcare.

“As boundaries between countries all over the world are being transcended year after year, the business landscape in various industries, including healthcare, is getting larger and more diverse. Options are plenty and continue to multiply but like in any free market, only the best are bound to thrive. I am confident that, with its expertise in regenerative medicine, its pool of renowned specialists and unique brand of patient care, The Medical City would do well, ” DED chief Al Qamzi said.

Aside from the globalisation of healthcare, Director General Al Qamzi and TMC Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) CEO and Board of Directors’ Treasurer Jose Xavier Gonzales also discussed the latest breakthroughs in medical technologies.

More and more studies in the medical field are proving that regenerative medicine is the way to go, and TMC is home to the internationally respected Institute of Personalised Molecular Medicine (IPMM), the first fully accredited Human Stem Cell and Cell-based Therapy Program in the Philippines.

TMC EMEA CEO Jose Xavier Gonzales said, “The TMC’s brand of healthcare is anchored on an appreciation of each person’s individuality. That since no two people are alike, no two healthcare needs are entirely similar. This is where the science of personalised molecular medicine comes in, this is where TMC’s expertise comes in.”

TMC’s IPMM is among the first to offer a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic services in molecular and cellular medicine, including stem cell therapies. Not only can these personalised molecular therapies prevent diseases, it also revolutionises the treatment of cancer and other diseases such as diabetes, metabolic disorders, neurological diseases (Parkinson’s, dystonia, Alzheimer’s, spinal cord and nerve injuries), and diseases of the heart, among others.

The TMC delegation, which also included TMC Managing Director for Global Business Development and CEO of Guam Regional Medical City Margaret Bengzon, and SAMA Medical Services Director Abdulaziz Al Ghannam, also visited the office of Dubai Health Authority Director General Humaid Al Qutami, who has also hailed the network’s initiative to cater to the medical needs of the Filipino community and the rest of the UAE.

The delegation also met up with Dubai Chamber Senior Vice President of Commercial Services Atiq Nasib who expressed delight in seeing the Philippines come out of its shell and start investing in Dubai, one of the fastest growing cities in the world, especially in the field of healthcare.
