DFA Advisory on Ebola Virus

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the repatriation of thousands of OFWs in West Africa is not called for as of now. The World Health Organization has not declared any epidemic in those areas affected by the ebolavirus outbreak. We are still awaiting a medical bulletin from them before we issue Alert Level 3 (voluntary repatriation).

There are 880 Filipinos in Guinea, 1979 in Sierra Leone, and 632 in Liberia, places where there is a significant outbreak of ebolavirus.

DFA ASEC Charles Jose guaranteed that persons arriving in the Philippines will undergo thorough screening, similar to measures undertaken during the Middle-east Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus (MERS-COV), to prevent the entry of the dreaded virus into the country.
