DFA Confirms Beheading of OFW in Saudi
MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed the report that a Filipino convicted of killing a Saudi national was beheaded.
DFA spokesperson Charles Jose said they are saddened by the death of Carlito Lana.
“We condoled with his family for their loss,” Jose said.
Agence France-Presse reported that Lana was executed in Riyadh.
Lana shot dead Saudi national Nasser Al-Gahtani before running him over with a car.
The father of 3 arrived in Saudi Arabia in 2008.
“Our embassy in Riyadh will assist his kin in bringing his remains back to the Philippines at the earliest opportunities,” Jose added.
The report said the Filipino is among the 80 Foreigners and Saudis who have been executed in Saudi Arabia this year alone. Reports from Agence France-Presse
