Engineer Caught-In-The-Act Stealing Dh1,000 from ATM

Dubai: A Filipino maintenance engineer has been charged with an alleged theft of Dh1,000 while repairing an ATM at a hypermarket.

The accused JA, 39, was assigned to repair ATM machine in a hypermarket in Karama area, Emirates 24/7 reported.

A security guard MO, 29, noticed that the engineer, who was holding a piece of cloth while repairing the machine, pulled out notes and immediately put it in his bag, Emirates 24/7 reported.

“I pulled the cloth from his bag and two notes of Dh500 fell on the floor. When I asked him about it, he said he would return them back to the machine,” MO who informed the police about the theft, testified in the Dubai Criminal Court.

Another co-worker confirmed the testimony. The court will hear the matter again on September 18.
