Fil-Ams Mourn Loss of Respected Diplomat Willy Gaa

CALIFORNIA – Filipino-American community groups are morning the loss of a well-respected diplomat.
Former Philippine Ambassador to the US Willy Gaa passed away this week in Manila due to lung cancer.
Gaa’s diplomatic career included stints in China, Australia, and Africa.
For a nearly 25 years, Gaa made stops in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles as consul general.
Gaa served as the Philippine Ambassador to the US from 2006 to 2011 where he helped fight for benefits for Filipino World War II veterans.
The Looc, Romblon native was 69 years old and is survived by his wife and two sons.
