Fil Community Sends their Love to Sheikh Mohammed on his 10th Year as Dubai Ruler
Ten years ago today, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, became the Ruler of of Dubai, and the Filipino community joins the UAE in thanking HH Sheikh Mohammed for his wisdom and a visionary leadership that has driven the emirate to where it is now.
“Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has played a meaningful role in the UAE showing his people what true vision and leadership are like and how it can steer a nation to global prominence,”Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes told The Filipino Times in a statement. “The officers and staff of the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai congratulate His HighnessSheikh Mohammed.”
As UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan congratulated the Vice President, the nation has taken their message of gratitude to social media through the hashtag #ThankUShkMohd.
Filipinos thanked the charismatic ruler for inspiring the community to dream bigger dreams for their own country.
“If a city and a country can become as successful and amazing as Dubai and the UAE, you would think, why not the Philippines? It is possible, it can be done! It only takes a good leader like Sheikh Mohammed,” said HR manager Krisel Garcia.
“The Philippines needs someone like Sheikh Mo, with his wisdom, vision, and will to create better lives for people,” nurse Brenda Lopez added.
They also hailed the leader’s achievements in making Dubai a warm, welcoming home for one and all.
Ailyn Corpuz, an accountant, said she has been to many countries but it is only here that she has felt at home.
“Everything is so easy, convenient and efficient here, you won’t have to worry about so many things. You can focus on your work, and your family. You can even bring your family over for special occasions,” Corpuz said.
Prime GTL CEO Engr. Mary Jane Alvero Al Mahdi, a multiawarded Filipina, said she was in awe of the Ruler’s achievements in placing the emirate in such a bright spot on the map of the world.
“I admire his vision for Dubai as well as for the country of the UAE. This is the vision that has helped bring a lot of development in Dubai, a city that has since been recognized all over the world,” Al Mahdi said.
“I am thankful for how he doesn’t see people based on their nationalities. We Filipinos are even admired here for our talent and skills, and it says a lot about the leadership,” she added.
Public relations specialist Lucia San Gabriel said she even owed a big part of her life to the city.
“If not for my employment and the healthcare system in Dubai, I would have never recovered from cancer. I didn’t even have to give up all my savings, everything has been covered.” San Gabriel said.
