Filipino Peeping Tom Jailed for Filming Flatmates in Dubai
DUBAI: A peeping tom has been given six months’ jail for installing hidden cameras in the bathroom, and bedroom of his flatmates to spy on them as they showered and got dressed,media reports said.
M L, a Filipina told the police during the filing of the complaint that when she arrived in her apartment last September, she found her roommate was concerned about an unidentified object in their bathroom, The National reported.
“She showed me the device, which was hidden in a hanger placed on the bathroom door. I opened it and found out it was a camera, “M L reportedly testified.
The women took the device, as well as two laptops owned by the defendant, J R, 37, to the police, who found footage of other women on the computers, the report said.
During questioning, J R confessed to recording footage of his flatmates, it added.
“I installed a hidden camera in M L’s bedroom while she was taking a shower, so that I could watch them getting dressed,” he reportedly confessed.
At Dubai Criminal Court last June, J R was charged with sexual assault of two women, M L and L A M, as well as sexual assault of other unidentified women.
He will be deported after serving his jail term, The National reported.
