Forsaken OFW in Jeddah Needs Help
A migrant advocate group appealed to the government to provide assistance to a distressed overseas Filipino worker (OFW), who is still stranded in Tabuk, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) more than a year after allegedly being abused by her employer.
The case OFW Maribel Romero Brenches, 41 year-old, from Andan, Pangasinan, has been brought to the attention of in Jeddah by a fellow Pangasenense OFW leader on January 28, 2015.
In a press release, Filcom leader based in Riyadh, John Leonard Monterona, said Brenches was deployed December 14, 2014 by Manila-based recruitment agency Jai-Kin Resources Corporation.
“We got information about her from her fellow Filipino HSW who is a neighbor of her employer whom Ms. Brenches was able to communicate about her deplorable condition,” said Monterona.
“Recently, she suffered a fractured ankle due to a bad fall at her employer’s house stairs as she alleges that she was forced to work starving without food,” Monterona added.
In his letter dated March 28, 2016 to Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) chief Atty. Hans Cacdac and Monterona requested “prompt action by getting her out from her employer’s harm and arrange for her immediate repatriation.”
