MANILA, Philippines — More Filipinos continue to leave war-torn Yemen, with the latest batch of 21, and one foreigner, leaving the capital Sanaa and expected to reach the border with Saudi Arabia on Thursday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

This brings the total number of Filipinos evacuated from Yemen to 537.

Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition has been carrying out air strikes against Houthi rebels fighting the government, has been under Alert Level 4 since February 18, meaning mandatory repatriation for all Filipinos there.

Last week, the DFA evacuated 464 Filipinos.

Aside from these, the DFA said the Pakistan Navy evacuated five Filipinos, another one went to Dubai while four others were repatriated by their employer.

On Wednesday, 60 Filipinos left Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and are scheduled to arrive in Manila Thursday afternoon, the DFA said. Their arrival will bring the number of Filipinos repatriated from Yemen to 405.

More repatriates are scheduled to leave Riyadh on Friday and Saturday.
