New Site Offers Pinoys Abroad Easier Way of Sending Gifts to Loved Ones
Filipinos abroad who need a new way of buying and sending gifts to their loved ones in the Philippines may now do so through BeamAndGo, a new website set up for the purpose.
Starting with $1.99, Filipinos overseas can send gift certificates for groceries, prescription medicines, and other supplies to their loved ones back homes.
Upon the purchase of the gift certificate, the intended recipient will receive an SMS indicating a unique 12 digit number and security code, the merchant’s name, gift certificate amount, and sender’s information. [See BeamAndGo FAQ]
If the recipient accidentally deletes the message, the sender simply needs to log on the website again and click “resend” on the transaction.
Senders must be absolutely sure about their purchase before going through with it, as the website cannot cancel orders.
BeamAndGo founder Mariliese Tan told Tech in Asia that it seems preferable for Filipinos abroad to send gift certificates instead of cash, saying this ensures that the money “is used for the intended purpose”.
Some of the merchants partnered with the website include San Roque Supermarket, Prince Warehouse, Gaisano Capital, Generika Drugstore, Managed Care Medical, and Super 8 Grocery Warehouse.
