No Coronavirus Cases Reported in Makkah

MAKKAH — Director of Makkah Health Affairs Dr. Abdullah Al-Muallim has said no coronavirus cases have been reported in the holy city of Makkah so far.

He said Emir of Makkah Prince Khaled Al-Faisal had issued directives to transfer all cases of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in the region to the newly established King Abdullah Medical Complex in north Jeddah.

Health Ministry data showed on Friday 10 more people have died in the country from MERS since last week.

The latest deaths occurred between March 6 and 12, mostly in Riyadh, bringing to 17 the number of MERS deaths so far this month.

A total of 950 people have been infected with the virus since it was first identified in the Kingdom in 2012, and 412 of them have died.
