No Pinoy Casualties in Second Japan Quake
No Filipinos were hurt in the powerful quake that hit southern Japan early Saturday, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
“According to our consulate general in Osaka, there are so far no reports of Filipino casualties in the Japan quake,” said DFA spokesman Charles Jose in a text message.
About 220,000 Filipinos are living in Japan based on government data.
Seven were confirmed dead and at least 760 people were injured after a magnitude 7.3 quake struck the Kumamoto prefecture.
Nine people were killed and hundreds were also hurt after a magnitude 6.2 quake struck Kumamoto prefecture on Thursday. —Virgil Lopez/ALG, GMA News
