OFW Loses Money in Canada Online Job Scam
AN overseas Filipino worker lost cash to an online recruitment agency offering non-existent job in Canada.
Radzwil Sacatropez, 45, a resident of Imus, Cavite, yesterday filed a complaint before the San Juan Police.
Sacatropez said she was looking for a job abroad when she saw through the Internet that Global Professional Resources Phil Inc was hiring nurse applicants for Canada.
Sacatropez, immediately enticed by the offer, sent her resume. She then received a text message and an e-mail from the alleged company saying she has to reserve a slot and was asked to pay through money transfer P3,750 for the pre–deployment orientation and seminar.
She was told to send the money to the account of Ha S. Siden in Unit 4505 Victoria Plaza Condo located at 41 Annapolis St., Greenhills, San Juan .
The e-mail identified Siden as the Medical Director of the Canuck Place Hospice based in Canada.
On December 20, Sacatropez went to the office of Global Professional Resources to attend the alleged scheduled orientation and seminar. She was surprised when she discovered that the company was no longer operating.
Police said another victim, Victoria Anna Manuzon, 24, a nurse from San Jose, Tarlac, also filed a complaint against the company.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration earlier warned overseas job applicants to be extra careful in considering offers of employment through the internet.
