OFWs Learn Investing Tips in Business Summit

MANILA – Many overseas Filipino workers are now looking for other ways to earn money without having to leave the country.

Verano is among the many OFWs who went to the 4th OFW and Family Summit held Thursday at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. The summit provided OFWs and their families with various business opportunities as well as held discussions on how to properly take care of their hard earned money.

“Mahirap in a way na negosyo na hindi nila nababantayan. Kaya kami gumagawa ng ganitong mga programa, para kung hindi man sila ang nandito, yung mga kapamilya nila dito sa Pilipinas, sila ang magpapatakbo,” said Go Negosyo Executive Director Ramon Lopez.

Van Villaraza, a former OFW in Singapore, invested in a business in the Philippines. Now she has her own restaurant.

“Di madaling mag negosyo talaga especially sa Philippines kasi maraming mga negative people, they are trying to put you down. But we have to trust ourselves,” Villaraza said.

But not all OFWs who invest in business succeed.
