PAL in List of World’s Most Dependable Airlines
MANILA – Philippine Airlines (PAL) is included in a list of the world’s most dependable airlines, according to a news report published online last Friday.
In a post by CBS News, an American-based broadcasting company, PAL was among the 22 airlines that travel site WanderBat rated as most “dependable.”
The list made by WanderBat took into consideration three main factors: performance, checked baggage cost, and fleet.
Topping the list is Doha-based Qatar Airlines, with Emirates and China Eastern in second and third place, respectively.
PAL was listed as the 21st most dependable airline, higher than Germany’s Air Berlin at No. 22.
According to the statistics cited on the website, PAL scored an on-time percentage of 53% and flies to more than 40 destinations.
It was also reported that PAL’s fleet size is currently at 51, with an average age of 4.2 years.
“The airline has been reaping the benefits of a growing wave of tourism, both as more foreign visitors enter the country and as more Filipinos travel abroad,” the website said, noting that PAL resumed service between Manila and New York City after 18 years.
