PAL Keen on Increasing GCC Flights; Ph Flag Carrier Also Launches Promo

ABU DHABI: Celebrating its third year in the UAE, Philippine Airlines revealed plans to increase flights in the region even as it launches a special promo giving passengers who book a flight to the Philippines free domestic tickets. “Philippine Airlines is planning to increase flight frequency due to the increasing demand and hopefully before the end of this year we will be able to do that. We are introducing also some new points or new destinations in the Gulf.

Right now, we have Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and we are also studying Oman and Bahrain,” said Joey Josefino Tiberio, area manager (GSA) PAL-Dubai and Northern Emirates. Reynaldo P. Garcia, the area manager of PAL in the UAE added, “Mayroon naman kami ngayon kaya lang via Dubai yung Jeddah namin and also yung Kuwait; from Abu Dhabi to Doha; we really need to increase our flight frequency out of Abu Dhabi to Doha. Kasi right now, let’s say it is five times a week, so magiging three to Doha, three to Abu Dhabi so six times na.

Actually yung expansion namin sa Middle East is medyo extensive hindi katulad dati ang nililiparan lang namin Saudi Arabia and now sa UAE so dalawang points na yan.” Meantime, Genaro Velasquez, PAL Senior Asst. Vice President for Europe and the Middle East said PAL has launched a special offer giving customers who are booking a flight to the Philippines a corresponding free domestic tickets to any destination that it services in the country.

The promo started Sept. 18 and will run till Oct. 15. Travel must be completed by Dec. 10. “We want to give overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) the opportunity to see the Philippines. We are very excited about this. We already have a lot of bookings,” Velasquez said. The airline celebrated its third anniversary at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Abu Dhabi last September 29.
