Philippines to Deal Only with Licensed Recruitment Offices

The Philippine government is considering dealing with official recruitment companies and offices approved by the Ministry of Labor, rather than individuals as is currently the case.

The move, which aims to ensure the rights of workers are guaranteed, came after an official meeting between the Saudi and Philippine delegations in Manila.

The Saudi team presented updates on the future of the recruitment industry in the Kingdom, as well as the future of recruitment companies and challenges facing the sector.

Sources, quoted by the local media, said the Filipinos are keen on having one sponsor for a large group of workers sent to the Kingdom in order to better organize employment and guarantee rights.

The Philippine side expressed commitment and willingness to cooperate with the Saudi delegation and look into dealing with official recruitment companies. It also vowed to work on the provisions of the memorandum of cooperation between the two countries.

According to Musanid portal at the Ministry of Labor’s website, the number of licensed and approved recruitment companies in the Kingdom has reached 12 companies. Nine companies are located in Riyadh, while the other three are in Asir, Makkah and the Eastern Province.
