Pinoys Visiting Japan Told: Obey Law
MANILA – Filipinos traveling to Japan are reminded to observe the laws and regulations at all times.
“The public is advised to refrain from engaging in any illegal and criminal activities such as vandalism, theft / robbery, and especially drug possession, drug smuggling and drug use,” the Philippine embassy in Tokyo said in an advisory.
The embassy said foreign nationals with tourist visas may be sentenced to imprisonment or given a grave penalty if proven guilty of engaging in any illegal or criminal activities in Japan.
According to the statistics released by the Ministry of Justice of Japan, there were 3,517 Filipinos who entered Japan with tourist visas in 2013 compared to 1,753 in 2012.
From January to June 2014, 1,109 Filipino tourists traveled to this country.
