POEA: Recruiter of Cleaners for US has No License

MANILA – Not all job postings found on social media are legal.

“I advise job applicants to always be wary of illegal recruiters and other employment scams and make sure they are they are dealing only with recruiters that were authorized by the POEA,” POEA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said.

Cacdac issued the statement after a Facebook user posted an invitation to Filipino workers to apply with Valley Chandelier Recruitment Agency and General Trading in Kuwait City which purportedly has vacancies for 5,000 cleaners.

The POEA chief said that neither the Facebook user nor the recruitment agency has authority to recruit Filipino workers for overseas jobs.

Cacdac said that there were also reports that the agency has been collecting fees from applicants and some OFWs in Kuwait have already return to the Philippines to prepare for the supposed interview at the US Embassy in Manila.

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Kuwait and Washington D.C. are presently investigating the reported illegal recruitment activity of Valley Chandelier Recruitment Agency and General Trading and its possible cohorts in the United States.
