POEA: Recruiters, Not Maids, Need Facebook Accounts
Recruitment agencies — and not Filipino domestic helpers– are the ones required to have Facebook accounts, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) administrator Arturo Cacdac Jr. clarified Monday.
The memorandum circular seeks to ensure protection of overseas Filipino workers, POEA said.
Under the memo to recruitment agencies, social media will be used as a communication platform by domestic helpers to prevent and resolve disputes, endorse complaints, as well as submit reports to the POEA.
Recruiters said they are in favor of the move, but it will require more consultation. – dzMM, March 2, 2015
