It’s not ask the obvious. Most single Filipinas follow Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, popularly known as Sheikh Hamdan or Fazza, primarily because of his manly look and personality. Most have also come to realize at one point that he is beyond than that.
Apart from people wanting to have a sneak peek in the life of the Crown Prince of Dubai – who , by the way, has 4.8 million followers on Instagram, 2.28 million followers on Twitter and 100, 103 followers on Facebook – we asked Filipinas following why they follow the Dubai’s next ruler; and here’s what we got:
1. He is passionate
Sheikh Hamdan is a professional photographer and videographer. He loves to travel too! In his Instagram feed, you’ll feast your eyes with the different kinds of visuals he makes. From wild life photography taken from his safari trips in Africa to scenic landscape photos from his European trip. Sheikh Hamdan sure has a lot of snaps to share. Aside from his breath-taking photos every year during the New Year’s countdown, let’s not forget that one time he went on top of Dubai’s skyscrapers to captures Dubai’s fog morning.
He also founded the Hamdan International Photography Award in 2011 where a lot of Filipino photographers submitted their entries.
2. He is athletic
“We can’t deny the fact that Sheikh Hamdan is one of the most athletic royal there is in the world,” Nicole Cruz, marketing manager, said.
He is a professional skydiver, cyclist, he enjoys parachute jumping, scuba diving, horseback riding… what can Sheikh Hamdan not do? And he doesn’t just do it, he make sure he wins.
Last year, he won the Endurance Cup beating 227 horse riders from 41 countries in an event held at the Meydan Racecourse. And just last January, he won first prize in Fazza falconry championship but gave his prize to the runner-up.
Sheikh Hamdan believes that all his hobbies has taught him a lot from leadership, courage, bravery, self-confidence, patience and focus and has a major role in the formulation of his outlook for Dubai.
3. His love for his country is unspeakable
“I think the reason why Emiratis are patriotic is because they see it from their leaders, Sheikh Hamdan leads a good example,” Lot Castillo, sales executive, said.
Sheikh Hamdan, just like his father and the leaders of the emirates, has unspeakable love for the nation. Year after year, he comes up with projects dedicated to the UAE’s growth whether it be ways on attracting more tourist through extreme sports like the Jetman or advancement in technology like his Smart City project, which ensures that government services will be accessible, quick and efficient through the use of hi-tech smart devices.
4. He is affectionate to his family
“He is not shy to show affection and admiration to his father, his family and everyone. If I can describe Sheikh Hamdan in one word, that will be, ‘compassionate,’” Angeline Anonat said.
If you follow his Instagram, you’ll see him regularly posting a touching message for Dubai’s ruler, his father Sheikh Mohammed commenting on his leadership or how great father he is. If not, you’ll see him hanging around with Maj. The son of Ahmed Jaber Al Harbi, Sheikh Hamdan’s best friend. You can also see him around the desert eating with his with bare hands and enjoying the company of bedouins.
