US, Belgium Embassies Closed May 25
The embassies of the United States and Belgium announced Friday they will be closed on Monday, May 25.
In a Facebook post, the US Embassy said its closing on Monday is in observance of US Memorial Day, a US federal holiday.
“Regular services will resume on Tuesday, May 26, 2015,” it said.
The embassy said Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May and honors the men and women who lost their lives while serving in the US military.
Meanwhile, Belgium’s embassy in Manila also said it will be closed May 25 and will reopen on May 26.
It did not cite a specific reason for Monday’s closing, though the site Publicholidays.eu said May 25 is Pentecost Monday, a public holiday.
