Visitor Molests Filipina Clerk in Dubai Office
DUBAI: A Jordanian man, visiting an office in Dubai to see its manager, allegedly molested a Filipina clerk there when she went to fetch water for him, a Dubai criminal court heard.
On October 13, at around 6.45pm, HD, 24, a Filipina follow-up clerk, was alone in the office when AI, 39, came in and asked for the manager as he wanted to hand over some gifts to him.
HD told AI the manager is not in the office. He asked her for some water.
“As I stepped into the kitchen to get him some water, he followed me and forcibly groped me. When I shouted and screamed at him, he ran out of the office. He came back after sometime and asked me not to inform my employer,” said the victim.
The victim informed the police who arrested AI the following day.
The accused admitted before police that his office is near the victim’s office.
“I went there to give her employer some gifts. I am attracted to her. As there was nobody else was in the office, I followed her into the kitchen and groped her body. She pushed me away and screamed at me. I turned back to apologize, which I did. But she was crying and did not give me any attention. So I left,” the accused admitted before the police.
A police officer testified that there are no CCTV cameras in the building and the company.
Earlier, the accused told prosecutors he groped her body against her will but he claimed his intention was to check how much she weighed.
However, the accused denied any sexual assault when he appeared before the court.
He also submitted a waiver from the victim. The court will give its verdict on December 29.
