Victoria Perdagorda, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Jordan, has been given repatriation assistance by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and is now currently under treatment at a hospital in Taguig City, reported GMA News.
Perdagorda returned to the Philippines earlier this year after her female employer physically and verbally abused her. She went home with wounds, scars, bruises, a swollen ear, and a broken jaw. The OFW has also lost a lot of weight due to her employer’s maltreatment.
OWWA Administrator Hans Cacdac said that the Repatriation Assistance Division is already helping Perdagorda. Her case has also been endorsed to the National Bureau of Investigation.
Aside from financial and livelihood assistance, OWWA, with the help of the Department of Foreign Affairs, will also provide legal assistance for any legal actions against Perdagorda’s Jordanian employer.
The 43-year-old went to Jordan to work as a domestic helper in 2015.
She said that her female employer started abusing her after a year. In Novermber last year, Perdagorda collapsed and had a near-death experience after her employer intensely beat her up. She said that she was left inside her room unconscious after fainting.
The OFW added that it was her employer’s husband who helped her and bought her a plane ticket to fly back home to the Philippines.
