MANILA — Malacañang on Sunday night said President Duterte has appointed former Armed Forces chief of staff Roy Cimatu as special ambassador for overseas Filipino worker-refugees.

Presidential spokesperson Ernie Abella announced Cimatu’s newest Cabinet position.

Prior to his appointment, President Duterte had designated Cimatu as special envoy to the Middle East.

This was the same position that Cimatu held during the administration of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo following his retirement as AFP chief of staff. He had served as the AFP chief in 2002.

Cimatu joined Mr. Duterte in the latter’s Middle East visit last week.  SFM
