Selfless Filipino Social Worker in Dubai Praised for His Work

On top of working in a well known accountancy firm, Rey Angulo gives his selfless service to others by volunteering as a social worker to assists patients and their families in Dubai’s public hospitals.

He spends around five hours every day helping patients, mainly at the Rashid Hospital, before going to work at 3pm, reported the Gulf News.

The 65-year-old, accredited as an official social worker in the emirate by the Dubai Health Authority and the Philippine-Consulate General, says what he does is his “mission”.

According to the Gulf News report, the Filipino expatriate has helped repatriate more than 100 patients of different nationalities and human remains for the past seven years, long before the ‘Year of Giving’ initiative was announced this year.

Angulo also has a family of his own with three grown children based in the Philippines. But he has no plans of retiring yet.

“For me, money isn’t everything,” Angulo said. “It’s that sense of fulfillment and satisfaction that I get when I am able to help solve other people’s problems, that’s all that matters to me. No amount of money can top that,” he noted.
